Turning over a new leaf

So, yesterday I did something drastic. Something that will affect our financial future. Yes, I accepted a part time job and gave notice to my current full time job that I won't be returning after maternity leave. Ultimately this is the best decision, and I feel good about it. I've enjoyed spending these last weeks with Brett and taking this job gives me the opportunity to spend an extra 2 days at home with him. I feel good about this job. It's doing admin/bookkeeping work, which I am very comfortable with, plus it seems like a friendly atmosphere and not too "corporate" (which I did 2 jobs ago, and it just wasn't my cup of tea).

The only issue? It will be cutting my salary by over half. I know we can make it work.. I wouldn't have taken a different job if we couldn't, but it will be a lifestyle change.

After I gave my boss my notice, I went into work and collected my stuff and turned in my keys. It wasn't easy. I said goodbye to everyone and realized how much I will miss my co-workers. I worked with a really great staff.... but it's more important to me to spend time with Brett. It's hard to believe I spent 3 years there.. moving from leasing agent up to property manager of the apartment complex. I have some super crazy stories that I could tell. It was definitely the most interesting job I'd ever had. One day in the future I may pursue property management again, who knows?

So here's to the future! I start my new job July 1st. I hope all goes well!

Congratulations! Sounds like lower stress, keeping the crazies at bay. You won't regret a moment of it. OK, well maybe a moment, when they are screaming, biting, pinching...all at the same time. But then there are thousands of other beautiful happy moments that take its place, and now you get to spend more of them with him.
Shameless plug- want to join our MOPS group?

I sound like such a new mom, but what is MOPS?

Congrats! I also had a harder time leaving my job than I imagined but I have never regretted making a choice that allowed me to spend more time with Hannah. I am certain you will feel the same way!

MOPS - Mothers of Preschoolers :)

I'll answer that one! MOPS is "Mother of PreSchoolers." I'm in the same group as Cathy, and so is Kathleen. Ours meets in Brownsburg (where Cathy and I live.... where are you living right now??). We meet every other Friday. There are lessons about parenting, organizational, etc. tips, socialization, fun. Cathy kind of had to twist my arm to get me in, but I absolutely love it.

Regarding the job change, isn't it funny how your entire perspective changes when you have a baby? I swore I'd never leave my job, even went back full-time a mere 4 weeks after having Bryn, only to quit at the end of the school year. Any time you want to go out and "play," just let me know. :)

Yes, we SHOULD all get together, cute babies are all so much cuter in person.

We should all meet down at the Children's Museum or something. It would be half way for all of us. I have a membership +2 and kids 2 and under are free.
